| ... it's true.
Yes. The guy's legs are gone. He's still not integrated with the back line.
But when it comes to taking one for the team there are few in this side who can match him. He is one tough, tough S.O.B.
Compare his performance with some of the truly abysmal half-attempts at tackling made by Walsh. Was it Cas' last try when he was literally pushed out of the way like a year-old toddler on wobbly legs?

| I'd rather have Walsh set up tries, kick most conversions and miss a few tackles than have Burns give away a few penalties, offer nothing going forward and make a few tackles.
I want my half backs to create tries, Walsh does this, Burns doesn't. Yes it would be a bonus if they were good defenders too but it's rare to have a half back who's as good in defence as he is going forward.

Burns was very influential in our great start at the beginning of the season, since Walsh has come back in the side Burns does,t seem to have a defining role just an erratic one. At least he is tough and not made of biscuit.

| Burns almost single-handedly let Castleford back into the game by dropping the ball, giving away a penalty and then missing a tackle leading to a try when Saints were 18-6 up.

Bit of cherry picking there, Walsh was similar dropped ball and a penalty. Walsh made 11 tackles and missed 7 tackles.....................Burns made 28 tackles and missed 3 tackles.

Walsh is definitely getting closer to his old game going forward. But he's a stuffed shirt in defence.

Walsh was a bit of a turnstile last night he was missing "second man" tackles which led to two of castlefords tries. When Burns misses a tackle he trys to re attempt where as Walsh just gives up. Defence is obviously not a priority to our halves but to keep the ball flowing in attack these last couple of games.

| I really don't understand some fans. At times this season Burns has been on the end of an absolute pasting. Yet time and time again he's staggered to his feet and carried on. He even played with a badly fractured jaw for over a half.
Perhaps I'm wrong but I thought we RL fans CELEBRATED this kind of never-say-die spirit.
Perhaps I'm wrong but I thought there really WAS some truth in the saying, [i"Fans love a trier"[/i.
If age and injury have robbed him of his best - sure, that's not great. But any guy prepared to scrap this hard in a Saints' shirt is ok by me.
What's WRONG with some of you people?

| You can't fault him effort. He takes some knocks but he picks himself up and he'll give even more. He's a hard man and you have to respect that. He is a competitor who hates losing and you need players like that in the side.
From a half-backs perspective though, he can be hit and miss. His decision making could be better but I like the way we have altered our attack structure a little bit. Age and injury have robbed him of a bit of pace and I don't think he has that consistency to his game that has enabled many halves to make that change to their game. He is prone to penalties but it's a fine line when you play the game in the way he does.
Great competitor though and you have to respect that. Quality wise though I'm not convinced.

I,m glad we,ve got him, very competitive and an irritant to the opposition. Lots of errors and incorrect decisions but plays every single minute of the game, has kept us in the top 4, he said he wanted the chance to win silverware but he can't do that with HKR who are bottom 4.
