Interesting point you make there! We have had a succession of recent coaches, who were forwards - and with all respect to them, who is meant to coach/improve the backs? Mind you, the last couple of seasons, we have not recruited enough backs (e.g. stand off/centre) - maybe that's a downside of having a forward in charge?

I don't think there will be any problem with Paul as number two to Millward. He hopefully will learn alot from Ian and can continue to learn his trade. However, Kelly? Where does he fit in? somehow I can't see all three being able to work together considering the way it's all come about... Kelly... Rowley... Millward but all three still at the club?



Be interesting, having said that, I think it's important to have who Ian wants as his assistant, no good in Leigh putting Paul as his assistant if Ian didn't want him there.

Millward does want Rowley, well documented when Millward signed.

As for asking Murph to help, sorry and no disrespect to the great man but that was tried a few years ago and we all remember how that turned out (or do we???)

As for todays coaching staff not consulting him I wonder what Murph would have said if back in the 60's they had asked an ex coach to advise him now that would have been treading on a giant ego



Sorry but Murph wasn't a great coach, a great motivator yes but his methods have gone the way of Grammar schools, Railways, Coal Mines, The Cotton Industry and safe driving, all sadly lamented but gone in the myths of time
