No drive from the club to try and sell anything from polo shirts to meals before the game on Sunday.

That's at least two revenue streams they don't consider valuable enough to promote.

What exactly do our commercial department do????

I understand that Matt, but how long would it take to add a few line on the web site??

I know of a large company who purchased a box for the first game against Salford and have never been contacted since by the club to take up anything, may it be a box or to sponsor a game.

Surely that's an easy opportunity going begging, how many companies who have been spent money at the club could be contacted about giving it another go to spend some more cash?

How many time in the last month have you received mail from a company you have previously been a customer with? I get a weekly letter from Virgin....

Surely the club needs to contact every company who has ever purchased a box, sponsored the programme/kit/ball/mascot whatever so see if they would like to offer support now.

BTW i went to the club on friday to my my Dad a polo shirt, it was not very busy....

Who at the club do you suggest does this? You mentioned the commercial department in your first post, have you seen this department? It consists of one bloke in his fifties. Who spends all his time getting in as much money as he possibly can. We are not Manchester United with a commercial department of 50 people! We are a part time Rugby League club that has a back office staff of about 5 full time employees.

We all know our marketing dept is carp and I am sure there will be changes in the future.

Your right its not rocket science and if the club have not followed these businesses/sponsors up then they've been failing terribly and things need to change.

The clubs now in different hands and things are not good at the moment,i'm sure they've got lots on there minds.

As i say we have a new CEO,'Trevor barton', He's going out of his way to ask people to mither him with ideas and complaints so he can get things done.
I just think if youv'e got issues with the club let them know,dont vent them on here at the moment.

Hang on a minute Matt - what are they firefighting - a lack of money. DaisyHillLeyther has just suggested a way of achieving this with very little effort. I do not have a clue what is in the club shop to even buy - and you cannot just blame that on me not being local.

In reality, lets be fair and say that the club has been run over the past few years as though it does not need to be marketed professionally or commercialized because AT would pick up the tab. Not that the marketing was anything to write home about in the decade before either, but lets not dwell on that!

What I can never understand is the absence of a commercial team given that a well run commercial department should fund itself, if not immediately then over the medium to long term. Pay people on a commission basis and get someone in who can thrive in that scenario.

One word.......
