It is becoming increasingly certain that Rangi Chase has played his last Leigh match. A skirmish with Lee Smith in the dressing room last week becoming the latest in a long list of disciplinary and other issues with this fella and the club has had enough and got shut.

Its a shame as from a supporter perspective i was hoping just 8 outstanding matches from him in September, could have unlocked the SL door. I amongst others was at Salford last year to witness Rangi Chase single handedly rip Leigh's defence to shreds all afternoon in a one of the most ridiculously brilliant individual petformances I have witnessed.

So what now? Positives ? Well it frees up substantial amount from the Salary Cap with £100k + to play with and bring in re inforcements.

From that end I hear Leigh and St.Helens are currently locked in talks and a more than adequate replacement will be at LSV sooner than later.

It also re enforces what an absolutely splendid job Neil Jukes has done as head coach, operating with just one assistant coach as opposed to Paul Rowley , who operated with 3 FT assistant coaches for 2 full seasons..

Travis Burns is more than adequate replacement. Bit injury prone though.

Shame if true about Rangi, but if he is causing disruption then I am glad we have acted - and probably freed up money to boost the squad at the business end.

Not sure Travis Burns is the answer, couldn't get a game at saints even when they had no other half backs.

Yes Travis Burns would be a great replacement for me. He is not currently injured either. I am told a minor digreement with Cunningham has resulted in him falling out of favour. Could be a win win situation here.

If it`s true about Chase don`t forget we`ve got a fantastic talent in Ben Reynolds.

I would be extremely tempted to throw young Ben Reynolds in at the deep end now.
Rangi was obviously a huge risk given his past 'issues' & has gone on to be more trouble than he is worth.

Ben has been 'blooded' a few times now, admittedly often as a substitute 6/7 but he has the raw talent to go far in RL.

He's a great player undoubtedly, but since he has arrived it's been one thing after another. Ben Reynolds has been outstanding and deserves his chance , IF it is true let's move on !

As you say Ben is a fantastic talent ,but if Chase has gone we need half back cover.Unless when McNally is fit he is going to cover.Smith has been outstanding since joining us but McNally last year made lots of and scored lot of tries from fullback
