I've just read the article on the Wildcats website that the Wembley statue will consist of five players, Risman, Boston, Murphy, Ashton and Offiah. While I've no issue with any of the aforementioned players, I feel it is a complete disgrace that Don Fox is not included. His missed kick at the watersplash final is the most iconic Wembley moment if not one of the most iconic moments in Rugby League! It is a clip played before every final and just about every cup match wakefield play in which is televised. I know I am biased as a Wakefield fan, but I feel that every rugby fan has to agree that it would be fitting to have Fox on the Statue.

Sorry to disagree but Neil is the Fox who should be there! He appeared in three Wembley finals and is the world record points scorer. I appreciate Don was MOM in THAT final but sadly he is remembered for the wrong reason.
I really don't understand why they have overlooked Neil and I don't really care. The main place for a statue of Neil is at the new ground where he can be seen by people who do appreciate him. |

Just Like Billy Bremner and others there is only one place for Neil Fox and thats out side our new ground once built.
How the RFL could over look the World record points scorer is beyond me and any other sport would have the record scorer first in line.
It just goes to show how the RFL are a law unto themselves.

During the Richardson era I remember been given a flyer and an announcement that people could "buy in" towards the construction of the Fox statue outside Newmarket. In return you would be invited as a VIP to the unveiling and have your name listed on the bottom of the statue or something similar. Was this just a Richardson fundraiser thing or is it still being promoted? I think they were looking for something like £500 each to contribute.

Nothing to do with Ted and its just been put on ice, IF we ever get started IT will be on the cards.
Lets hope we can honour this Man and stuff that "rigged" vote for the Wembley statue. |
