In the Doncaster Free Press Report for yesterdays game, its states that Paul Cooke will only play if the side is short of players now.

Wasn't he signed as a player under Dons4Life? Were Dons4Life members told about this?

Dunno but if it allows for him to concentrate better on the team as a whole then good man.
Retiring never an easy decision to fair play to him.

Given that he only told Hally and the players last week, I would say no.

Including representative appearances, Cooke has 396 career appearances, scoring 68 tries, 546 goals and 9 drop goals.
He has made 86 appearances for the Dons, scoring 18 tries, 53 goals and 2 drop goals.

He has been a good player and coach in his time at the Dons but his poor recruiting and the teams lack of ideas on the pitch show that it is now time for Carl Hall to hand over the coaching to someone else. For a team to go 17 games without a win is just not good enough and a change is badly needed to get us out of this current predicament.

I wouldn't blame PC 100% for the recruitment problems , I think his hands may have been tied !

Think it's been on the cards for a while, I thought he might have retired at the end of last season,problems with his knees etc. Been a great player, enjoyed watching him. Shame, but if it gives him more time for coaching, all well and good.

I think pc has tried to carry the club on and off the pitch and i see this has a positive move that will allow him to focus fully on the coaching role.
