After saturdays fiasco I felt I had to add my opinions on the refereeing standards we have to put up with. I agree with the comments on this forum Green being offside was a equaliser after last years Ganson mistake.But surely we shouldnt have to put up with mistakes from referees. If they make a mistake they seem to think SORRY is sufficient,yet if a player makes a mistake, an accidental high shot,and most of them aren't, they do not go to the video ref to see if it was a high shot,no its a penalty straight away.Salford got fined for having an extra man on the field who's fault was it really,the officials.The man man on the touchline is supposed to manage who goes on and comes off the field.
FORWARD PASSES, this is getting,for want of a better word,A JOKE,The Hull FC v Warrington game there was 22 forward passes in that game Hull scored 3 tries from forward passes. Warrington 2.Yesterday Huddersfield scored 2 tries from forward passes Wigan 2.Huddersfield 3, Danny Brough seems to get it away with it he ran across the field yesterday and threw it in front of him for the second rower to score on one occasion.Rovers scored 2 tries from forward passes against Wakefield.
I can't understand what the touch judges are there for they don't seem to have input, only very rarely do they tell the referee it was a forward pass.You can see it from the terraces never mind 5 yards away. The positioning of the player passing the ball's hands tells it all, if his wrists dont bend its a forwad pass it is physically impossible to pass a ball backwards running forwards if your wrists do not twist to send the ball behind the body.Nevermind these so called flat passes,the rule states the ball shall be passed in a backwards direction,or have they changed yet another rule.
PLAY THE BALL. Not many players actual play the ball correctley,most of the top 4 teams do not play it and Wigan are the worst offenders. They just put it on the floor and walk over it.
Ther is more but I am depressing myself feel like slashing my wrists,mind I would be able to pass forward easier if I did. The Powers that be have got to get it sorted,referees are killing the game it is costing teams points,players money,if they get win or loss bonuses now adays I don't know, and coaches jobs.

If you're going to sit and count all forward passes in games, you really need to get a life!

I think refereeing standards as a whole have dropped in the last three or four seasons. The prevalence of forward passes is very frustrating.

I'm not sure what else people think can be done after this weekend; Ganson has privately spoken to Hudgell to apologise, the RFL have issued a public apology (which was practically thrown back in their faces seeing as Hudge' took exception to it coming from an ex Hull FC player) and Ganson was stood down from his next VR job as punishment. What really would appease the average Rovers Fan ? A public flogging for Ganson, overturning the result or being awarded the point that you may or may not have lost ?

I hear a comment similar to this every season without fail. When were these halcyon days of better match officiating? There's always been forward passes, dodgy decisions, etc.


Like I said before, I don't understand what Hudgell is hoping to achieve with his comments? All he has achieved is showing his pettiness.

Refereeing in RL has always been poor. It's just thrown into sharper relief nowadays with televised games and multiple camera angles.

So Ganson apologised, the RFL said sorry and Ganson was dropped from his VR appointment yesterday. Is that enough? Are we happy with that? Should the person that's been put in a role at the head of referees make these simple mistakes? Should he lose his job?

I think he should, I don't think SKY are too happy with him either, Stevo in particular. We'll see on Tuesday. They did mention that the RFL will make a statement on Tuesday following their review and also said that the whole incident "is far from over", so, more news to come.

Ganson sacked? Game replayed? Point given to Rovers? Who knows, lets wait and see.

I think the problem we have with referees is the inconsistancy,take wigan leeds last night ,in my opinoin no-one was obstructed but an obstruction was given against leeds late in the game ,but in next weekends games we will see half a dozen pretty simular incidents not given thats what annoys me.#banthegan
