I honestly think this kid could be a late bloomer in the Matty Smith mould for a SL side.

I'd play him over Luke Walsh currently. He's a very solid player and did well for us previously. I wouldn't break the bank for him, but I'd definitely take him on a 1 or 2 year deal while they try to persuade McManus that clubs don't really have to wait until most other clubs are better than them before they try to sign good players.

I'd go for him, seems better now than when we had him. I'd also have gone for Lunt. These guys are probably on much less than unknown quantities like Peyroux

I'm assuming you are just baiting, G.O.B is no where near good enough we can do a lot better.

I'm not talking first 17, but a squad player. He'll develop into a decent player, he's only a kid.

I,m not sure if it would be worthwhile, we,ve got Walsh, Burns, Wilkin, Richardson and Charnock who can play in the halves. Think I would take a punt on Fages if the price is right, we need one "old head" in the halves this season and perhaps next. For 2017 Richardson and Fages could be a possibility but we seem to struggle for long term planning in these positions.

How do we know that Fages is up to the standard...I mean, he's been talked up by Koukash which means nothing. Next year could possibly be Walsh's and Burns last year at Saints. Wilkin is getting older. Charnock is a number 9. We're all hoping Richardson can step up.

I think GOB could develop. Warrington are casting him away much like we did with Matty Smith. Wigan did it with Long in the 90's. All 3 clubs thought they had a ready made halfback at the time and weren't willing to take a punt on a kid they'd brought through the ranks and other clubs benefitted.

I admittedly could be talking tripe here. He might just end up at Batley or something, but I think the kid as got promise.

Gareth O'Brien is a solid player who would only be part of our squad and this is it to be honest, Luke Walsh and Travis Burns will be first choices at the club next year as you would probably expect. O'Brien needs to play every week at a club and cement himself as a first choice half back, I very much doubt he would consider signing for us anyway knowing he would hardly get any game time.

He is 24 in October, so not a kid anymore.

Sure if we are lining up a replacement for walsh then don't sign him. But if we are just waiting and seeing, then why not.

I don't think he offers anything at all that we don't already have. Yes, he does occasionally take the line on, but no more effectively than Walsh does. He'll find a home at one of the current set of Middle 8 clubs, I should think.
