What’s the best home grown 17 you can come up with out of players from the past 40 years?

Players who came through our academy qualify as do players who made their first team debut for us without playing first team for anyone else. So Paul Deacon doesn’t qualify.

Correct on all accounts. That was the only first team game he played and it was indeed in 2005.

I remember that he impressed in the time he was on the pitch and I was a little sorry when we let him go. Then again we were used to great players at the time

Some you win, now we lose. It would be a great idea if the RFL rewarded clubs for developing SL standard players with a weighted - dependent on ranking - premium for internationals, but that too sensible. We'd be minted, and England would have more chance of competing. As would Wales and Scotland.....Kopczak and Addy.

I think CK would be in the team in front of Hamer definitely and I don't think Addy would be anywhere near the first 17.

I personally would see Alan Redfearn in front of Harkin, and going further back Tony Fisher would have to be with a shout as hooker, if anyone can remember him!!!!

David Redfearn's brother Alan has been missed out too - he played over 200 games for Northern and was also a GB international, more than a few times, so should be included.
