| from that extract it looks like a good read. Hopefully he wont fall into the trap of a constant stream of played at bradford we won I played ok felt great, next week played at Widnes we lost it was a bummer for chapter after chapter like some RL books.

| Good read, but I'm not sure where he gets the 'props have to run all day and still make an average of 12 tackles a match' part... Did Inga not play with Ian Roberts who put 60+ tackles in in one game?

No Inga didn't play with Roberts. Props would have been Skerrett, Cowie, O'Connor, Platt at first I think among others.
Inga played in a great team but would he have looked as good in any other team? He had lots of weaknesses...

Indeed - it's interesting to hear him say he went from training Tuesday and Thursday to full time... but of course WIgan were the only full time pro team of that era in the UK. I don't know how many of that wigan team would still stand out so much today. Hanley would be a star in any era and Edwards would be a good Super League player etc
Here's an interesting question with all of the current opinions flying around
Joe Lydon - good athletic centre with a turn of pace - Shenton, good athletic centre with a turn of pace. What makes Joe Lydon such a good player and not Shenton. My opinion is that he played in a full time team with the best of his era around him

| I have the Wigan Annual 1990-91. In the profiles it lists the players professions.
Ellery Hanley - Pro Footballer
Steve Hampson - Drayman
Joe Lydon - Graphic Designer
Kevin Iro - Pro Footballer
Dean Bell - Schools RL development officer
Mark Preston - Insurance Underwriter
Bobby Goulding - Unemployed
Shaun Edwards - Pro Footballer
Andy Gregory - Scrap metal dealer
Martin Dermott - Schools RL Development Officer
Ian Lucas - Antique dealer
Dennis Betts - Student
Philip Clarke - Student
Andy Goodway - Pro Footballer
So it was sometime after 1991 Wigan became full time.

Lies lies and damned lies. Wigan went full time in 1895 and everyone knows it.
