When two players collided mid-air when both jumping for a high ball and Cummings says it's fine as it inevitable that's they'll be contact when two guys jump together.

I'm sure HIM will be interested in that one after what Cummings said the other week when Hardaker did that against Hull and he was adamant it was a foul.

They obsessed by Ref decisions/non decisions aren't they. Just because Stuart Cummins is there, don't need to question everything....really annoying.

I noticed the volte-face from the now resident, increasingly Sky-like, ex-Head of Referees.

He's been alright tonight so far.

All I ask from the ex-merry-whistleblower is to not blindly defend the referees and not to make stuff up.

Its just so negative.

They seem to dwell on some non contentious things for some reason, maybe it wasn't a game for the neutral, but it was a hard fought, tough, bruising encounter.

Instead, all we get is a run down of how the referee has messed up by not brandishing cards around like confetti from Stevo and Eddie convinced that any kick over 5 meters is an attempted 40/20.

Don't even get me started on the usual, pouched, utilise, get the message out drivel. They really are wrecking any good feeling they once had, they are a poor parody of what they once were.

To be fair to Stevo and the rest of the commentary team the professional foul by Travis Burns was anything but "non contentious" and they were absolutely right to question why he wasn't shown the yellow card. It was as clear a professional foul as you're likely to see, defence in disarray after an 80 metre break, 10 yards out, Burns stands not square and drops on the played ball! Granted, the Sky team dwell on every other non contentious incident, but that certainly wasn't one of them! Thaler bottled it.

He always seems to focus on real non-issues, though.

He was going berserk over the Penny tackle on swift, but there was little in it. It crept up round the head, yes, but Swift was going down and you could see there was no malice from penny to attack the head or cause harm. Its a contact game, calm down dear. Worse things happen at sea.

Sheer panic on the Virtual Terrace forum, their heads are gone and someone should get the message out that Eddie and Stevo's place is there for the taking.

It is actually a shambles now though, it's almost as if they toss a coin to decide whether they agree with a decision or not and then go overboard either way - we've all seen some terrible decisions given and first Stevo berates the player feeling wronged, and then attacks the wronged teams discipline. It's just nothing like intelligent commentary, the pair of them don't enhance your understanding of what's going on, just bang out cliches and worthless hyperbole. Based on their current staff I'd rather have Wells and Carney on the mics.
