But I thought Rugby Union had no involvement whatsoever in any attempt, anywhere, ever to try and hold back Rugby League.

I thought it was only chippy northerners who don't understand the real world that thought these things ever happened.

Or at least that's id been told time and again by a few Union fans, some of whom haven't lived in this country for several years but still pretend they know exactly what goes on here.

Going from what I've read, the spin is he was arrested for using the term 'Rugby' rather than RL and enticing sponsors, who thought they were sponsoring union. On that basis he's been done for fraud.

Its quite simple really.....if the authorities simply ask Nissan what they believed they were sponsoring, then no doubt the union lot will either look really stupid or entirely vindicated.

As this case is currently before the courts, I'm surprised this thread is still open, let alone has a number of potentially litigious suggestions and claims in it.

I wonder if these will be withdrawn if Nissan turn put to have been conned, or will it be claimed that the irb covered it up
