It was the year after in 1991 and we lost 17:8, Gary Spencer scoring our only try with a couple of goals from Mark Conway in front of a crowd of 2851. It was indeed Michael Jackson who made his debut and seem to remember him playing in the centre for some of the game. I think h'd joined us just a couple or so days before the game from Hunslet. He scored two cracking tries that year against Leeds and St Helens and another the week before we we also beat Wigan. He then played for GB against Papua New Ginea and got injured and sadly was neer the same again in my mind.
That was also the year of the Widnes abandoned game when the fog came from nowhere when we were losing and we won the re-arranged game when David Jones chased Offiah down.
Toppo was still the coach that season and it was also the season that Geoff Bagnall joined us.
