Now this is the time when deals are done, but we may not yet be in a position to do the right deals.

For me, there are 4 I would hate to lose and 3 I would retain, but not distraught if we didn't. Others have probably had their day or need to refresh or even retire.

I hate this time of year, especially when relegation is on the agenda!

On the plus side there are a fair few players there who need to put themselves in the shop window - though it doesn't always seem to work that way.

The relegation issue is an absolute killer for the lower end SL clubs, both in terms of player retention and player recruitment.
The clubs in the top half of the league can make plans well into the future but, we will inevitably go back to signing journeyman pros on short contracts, which is THE major downside to P/R situation.
This is magnified further still with the utterly crazy 2 x 12, 3 x 8 structure.

Regarding the OOC players, there are perhaps 4/5 that I would like to retain, plus Ali (although it looks like he will be hanging up his boots).
On the plus side, there is a good opportunity to refresh the squad IF we can find some quality players who like to roll their sleeves up.

I would keep Anderson, Scruton, Moore, Tautai, Walshaw and Ali if he decides to keep playing.

Not sure about Fox, Sykes, Molloy, Wildie or Washbrook.

Would let Mathers go and also Raleigh who I think this will be his last season.

As long as we can bring in better than what we have... I think the fox and Lauititi contracts would free up lots of money as they were signed by Elston

I'd keep on another 1 year deal.... Paul Sykes, Scott Anderson, Andy Raleigh, Richard Moore, Taulima Tautai, Lucas Walshaw and Nick Scruton.

I expect Lauitiiti retiring at the end of the season despite the fact he is still a real threat and could play on for another year (despite being 35 in July).

Tautai and Walshaw 2 years. Rest 1 year deal ( if the price is right)

Think we need to sign Anderson up for 2/3 yrs. great player and I'd send out a stability message by signing longer terms with sammut godinet and mcshane

I think we need to make sure we are in SL next season first.

There's the "catch 22", if we wait until we are safe, most of the decent players will have sorted themselves out, bot in terms of our current players and those who we may wish to sign from elsewhere.

Equally decent players won't choose to come until we are safe.
