| Quote Shifty Cat="Shifty Cat"I remember when we signed Big Dave and we had similar opinions about him then, things like, he's lazy and slow. if he was any good he wouldn't be in the French first division or wherever he was and we also had the NRL experts back then giving us their opinion of how crap he was compared to their kid. How wrong so many people were. What's more the bloke was a giant in the changing room, not always for the best but more often than not. A top bloke who gave everything for Trinity while he was here and more. If this kid just got a bit of Dave him in, I'll take that.'"
He was never fit enough for nrl hence he was over here ,plus he played when he wanted to play. Yes he was a showman and had some good games but he also had plenty or bad ones and gave away a lot of penalties. I personally think he was part of our problem in that we probably could have at 2 or 3 good forwards for the amount he was on.and made us a better team

| You said that before but I just don't see what you see.
Fifita was well worth his time with us.
He played plenty of games injured and was still one of the best on the field.

Same. Trin e t post seems to be describing a completely different player.
Fifita didn’t look it but the guy had an engine and regularly played 50-60 minutes a game. He rarely missed a tackle and I honestly can’t recall many bad games from him. Probably a handful only over the years.

| I may have said it before pop tart and in my opinion still think he was not the god people made him out to be. Whilst I will be the minority personally think it is a team game and believe we would have been spending his big wage over few players. In reality Whilst he has been here we have always been struggling with relegation so it was not that he had us in the play offs.

Don't know what you were seeing tbh....
You seem to forget that over the last few years we've actually been paying players good money for not a lot in return...
David Fifita isn't one of those by any stretch of the (or your) imagination....

My point is that he would have been our top earner and as such expect him to win more tight games than we did and him to make a difference. Yes he was a showman and a good player but not good enough to keep us higher in the league. If you have God status as appears to have then you have to win 4 or 5 tight game's by your bit of genius SPoke to ex players about this who are of the same opinion. Great guy , showman yes , decent player yes , but sorry not god.

Best import prop Trinity have had for a long long time and could have still done a good job this year at Championship level in my opinion…

I have no doubt if Fifita had wanted to play this season he would have been the best prop in the championship.

| I think you will find Powell will build a completely different team to before. The forwards signed look strong athletic types and at a guess will not have a prima Donna but a really hard working team

| If we use him right I’m sure he will be an asset.
Doesn’t look capable of big minutes and doesn’t look the most mobile but those are things that can be worked on.
Short impact spells to change the game up look to be his thing.
If we are hoping for 60 minute stints then it looks like he will be waisted.
Some of the criticism I’ve seen of him is shared with the criticism him brother also gets. Low work rate and got a few brain farts in him.
If he comes with the right attitude and we utilise him to his strengths could be a useful and entertaining pick up.

Of course it’s a different team. We’ve gone through a very large squad rebuild. Give me a prop that works hard and gets the front foot than a steady Eddie any day. In reality though a team needs both and a mixture of different types of props.
If we had a full front row of workmanlike solid props without the impact/post contact ability or offload ability the team would struggle to dominate or trouble teams. Uele appears to have the post contact difficult to put down Fifita style. Bain appears to be workmanlike but has an offloading game. Bowden is your solid technical prop to his his front and gain a quick play but not rack up the meters.
Prima Donna is not the right word as Dave was a very infect
